RANGE OF WORK
User Experience/User Interface Design
KakaoTalk is one of the most popular text messaging app in South Korea. However, one of the biggest problems with the app is the confusing user interface. This project is aimed to re-design and simplify the user interface of the application.
KakaoTalk's latest iOS app is confusing.
1. Users have to dig through a long list of menu to find what they are looking for
2. Basic functions require multiple steps
3. Some functions are non-existent (ex. video chat, logging out)
How can KakaoTalk's app UI become less confusing?
1. Simplify existing user interface
2. Reduce the number of menus
3. Add necessary features
CLEAN LOGIN SCREEN
A simpler interface starts with a brand new login screen and a modern logo. The new KakaoTalk login screen is free of any distractions. It simply asks the user for his email or phone number and password. If this the first time, simply tapping on "Sign up for an account" will direct them to a registration screen.
NO MORE DIGGING THROUGH MENUS
Say goodbye to the bottom menu bar found on the current version of KakaoTalk. With this refreshed user interface, users can easily find what they need in a couple taps or less. Want to add a friend? Simply press the manikin icon on the top right? Want to search for a word or phrase in the chat? Press the search icon on the top left. Need anything else? They are most likely under the menu icon on the top right. The new KakaoTalk user interface is now so much more intuitive.
